Sydney New Year's Eve

New Year’s Eve in Sydney

Sydney is a city mad for their fireworks, so the New Year’s Eve fireworks is truly a fantastic experience.  There’s even two rounds – the “family fireworks” at 9.00pm (or the “warm-up” as I called it) and then the real thing at midnight. I’ve been lucky to have lived for the past year in a gorgeous apartment with views looking out directly to the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House and have gotten to see a lot of fireworks!  I can’t even begin to think of the vast amount of money that Sydney has spent on fireworks.  But all this means that I have become somewhat of an expert in fireworks…..and I have to say that you really do have to wait up until the midnight fireworks to truly see something spectacular.  Much like the name “family fireworks” they were the G rated ones.  But midnight, wow!  That’s when the really truly amazing spectacle begins.  The midnight fireworks really are WOW! With over a million people lining the shores, and the city spending several millions of dollars, I could see what all the fuss was about – it was very impressive.  Nothing really does it justice unless you are there in person…..but check out the official website for a taster of what it is all about.
